Celtic Champions League rivals on lockout alert as Lazio BAN Feyenoord support from away end

Lazio have banned Feyenoord supporters for their Champions League showdown in Rome in Celtic's group next month.

Brendan Rodgers' side face an uphill task to make it into the knockout stages after defeats to the Dutch and Italian teams in their two opening games in the section. While Celtic face a double-header against Atletico Madrid in their next two games, Feyenoord and Lazio clash home and away. And Lazio along with the Italian authorities have made the decision not to hand over any allocation to the Rotterdam club for the game at the Stadio Olimpico.

The decision stems back to a Champions League match in 2015 between Lazio's rivals Roma and Feyenoord where riots broke out and the city's famous 17th century Barcaccia fountain near the Spanish Steps suffered significant damage. It's the third time in two seasons Feyenoord fans have been banned from Rome. They played against both Roma and Lazio last season in the Europa League and were banned from having away fans at both games by Rome authorities.

However, around 1000 Dutch fans still arrived in the Italian capital in April for the quarter final tie against Roma. The 2015 riots came when 6000 travelling supporters descended on the city and caused an estimated £1 million worth of damages.

The damage led to Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte issuing an apology over the behaviour of Feyenoord fans. Feyenoord snapped up their allocation at the weekend of 2,700 tickets for when they play Celtic in December to their season ticket holders before the Parkhead tie was even put on general sale. Celtic play Lazio in Rome on November 28.
