Law and District AAC stars rack up top performances at national events

Law and District AAC athletes Allan and Christine Neill both took medals from the Scottish National Masters Championships in Dundee amid a series of strong results for the club.

Both senior athletes competed in the 1500m, with Christine winning gold in her second-fastest time of 5.37:95mins, while Allan scooped silver in a new PB of 4.18:83mins.

Gary Leek also won silver in the V60 100m in a time of 14.44secs and Andy Dawkins was first in his age group in shot put and overall winner with a throw of 13.63m and an M50 championship best performance.

Graeme Ferguson was also first in his V45 age group and overall fourth with a throw of 11.04m.

Liam Nolan competed in the para event, run in conjunction with the Masters, and also the Combined Events Championship, and threw 33.10m hammer and 28.25m discus.

Three under-17 athletes were selected to represent Scottish Schools in the Schools International Championships at Carmarthen, Wales, competing against the hosts, England and Ireland.

Skye Davidson finished fourth in javelin, whilst Owen Murphy and Tehillah Ikechukwu-Okonkwo were both sixth in their respective 100m events. Tehillah and team-mates went on to win 4x100m gold.

Several athletes took part in the Red Hose Race at Carnwath Agricultural Show, competing through fields, over hills and along roads, with a junior race of 2k and senior 4k run.

U15 athlete Cara Murphy competed at the English National Championship events at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, winning the 100m and 200m in the Para Championship.

Also competing were Tehillah Ikechuckwu-Okonkowo, who was sixth in 100m final, and Owen Murphy, who got through to the semi-finals.

Lauren McNair just missed out on the 300m semi-finals.
