Kyogo is Celtic transfer 'bargain of the millennium' as Rangers told Hoops won't give up title lightly

Kenny Dalglish has given Celtic and Kyogo the ultimate praise following his winner in the Old Firm derby last weekend by affirming him as the 'bargain of the millennium'.

The Japan forward missed two relatively straightforward chances in the first half at Ibrox to leave Hoops fans frustrated, but opened the scoring against their bitter rivals on the stroke of half time after he rifled home from the edge of the box on the half-volley to leave those in Govan stunned.

It's a familiar sight for fans of Scottish football from the Celtic hitman, with 57 goals in just 88 games for the diminutive forward seeing him etch his name into Hoops folklore after two seasons. He's earned a recall from Japan in the process, and Dalglish reckons it was the transfer coup to end all deals when the former Vissel Kobe striker arrived in 2021.

The Scotland icon, who bagged 173 goals in 338 games in green and white himself, reckons it's credit to both Kyogo and the club for landing him for just £4million. Dalglish, who was no stranger to an Old Firm outing, hyped the 28-year-old for his finish by naming him one of the bargains of the millennium.

He wrote in the Sunday Post: “I need to commend the winning goal from Celtic’s Kyogo. It was an outstanding strike and just reaffirmed again what a wonderful talent he is. At a transfer fee of around £4m, he is one of the transfer bargains of the millennium.
