Kris Boyd branded Celtic 'lucky omen' as Rangers hero takes final Champions League swipe with horror run halted

Presenter Julian Warren branded Kris Boyd Celtic's "lucky omen" as he took a swipe at the Rangers hero during the dramatic Feyenoord finale.

The Hoops snatched their first home win in Europe's elite competition in a decade as substitute Gustaf Lagerbielke nodded in Matt O'Riley's cross in injury time as Brendan Rodgers' side ended their group stage campaign on a high. It came during a dramatic end to the game which saw the Dutch champions cancel out the Scottish Premiership champions advantage - after Luis Palma netted from the penalty spot - through Yankuba Minteh with just eight minutes left on the clock.

And Boyd had taken over the coverage of Celtic's European campaign for Sky Sports News for the matchday six clash - with the likes of former Hoops stars Neil Lennon, Andy Walker and Charlie Mulgrew all previously leading the in-studio coverage amid the winless group stage campaign. That abruptly changed with Boyd in the hot seat.

Speaking after Lagerbielke headed in the winner, Boyd said: "It's brilliant from Matt O'Riley on the left-hand side. He hangs it up to the back post and it's Lagerbielke. He has had a tough start to his Celtic career but he gets on the end of it and heads it into the ground."

Boyd couldn't resist a final dig at Celtic as they looked to shake their Champions League curse in Glasgow's east end. He asked: "Maybe that long elusive home win in the Champions League for Celtic is just about to happen."
