Kolo Toure reveals Celtic Invincibles confidence was LAUGHED OFF as fans told Brendan Rodgers love affair never wavered

Kolo Toure revealed his prediction that Celtic go could go unbeaten for a full season was laughed off before Brendan Rodgers side achieved the feat.

In his first spell in Glasgow, the Irishman guided the Hoops to an unblemished domestic campaign, winning the Treble and earning 106 points across 38 games. Celtic won an astonishing 34 matches that season as Rodgers' continued his trophy haul before leaving with cult hero defender Toure for Leicester City in early 2019. The former Arsenal and Manchester City star played a number of games in green and white including in major Champions League clashes with the likes of Barcelona and his former club City under Rodgers.

And Toure was part of that famous Invincible Celtic side and admits it was no surprise to him to see his former coach return to Scotland this year. The 42-year-old revealed Rodgers always spoke highly of his former club and that his love affair for the Hoops never wavered, even when the reality of the Leicester decision weighed on him.

Toure told Talksport: "Brendan always did like Celtic. The way we left to come to Leicester, he always had that on him. I think when he had the chance to go back there, and see the guys there. They did like him a lot too, that's why he really went there. He loved that club, he was also speaking so highly about Celtic.

"Fantastic (on his time at Celtic). Glasgow was a great place, and we were playing really good football. We went invincible there as well, a full season without losing a game. Which was special...I remember that at the start of the season a journalist asked me 'do you think you can do the Invincible in Celtic too' and I said 'yeah, there is a possibility' and he was laughing.
