Brendan Rodgers acknowledges Celtic atmosphere sap as players urged to make Green Brigade level noise on pitch
Brendan Rodgers is well aware the atmosphere at Celtic Park was a bit flat as they couldn't get past Motherwell.
It was another clash at Parkhead without influential supporter group the Green Brigade who spent the afternoon conducting 'day of action' by welcoming the Scottish Premiership champions to the stadium on the Celtic Way, drawing a one finger salute from celeb rocker Rod Stewart in the process as they booed the musician. On the pitch, Rodgers men faltered after David Turnbull's late penalty was cancelled out by a Jon Obika equaliser.
The ultras remain banned from Celtic Park and while the Irishman has been keen to see a resolution to the bubbling row, he admits there is a shift in atmosphere inside the stadium. But Rodgers offered the solution that his players can get the famous atmosphere going with better performances on the grass.
He acknowledged there was a flat atmosphere but added: “There was probably that in the last game as well but we were winning 6-0, still the same. It is something on the pitch, we have to make it happen.
“We have enough of the ball, got into some really good areas, we just missed that final moment of combination play and that final moment of quality that allows you to get in front and opens the game up. The longer it goes 0-0, that gives Motherwell that enthusiasm to keep going.”
