Klaasen's heroics help Proteas to emphatic win over England Lions

A fine century by Heinrich Klaasen helped the Proteas to a 107-run win in the second warm-up clash of their England tour in Worcester on Thursday.

Klaasen scored 123 off just 85 balls, blasting nine fours and five sixes during his innings.

He was supported by Rassie van der Dussen (61) and Andile Phehlukwayo (67) as South Africa posted an imposing 360/7 in their allotted 50 overs after winning the toss and batting first.

In reply, the England Lions could only must 253 all out in 38.2 overs.

They were in immediate trouble in their chase as Proteas captain Keshav Maharaj grabbed the wickets of the dangerous Will Smeed (0) and Sam Hain (0) in the first over of their reply.

Stephen Eskinazi (79) and Ben Duckett (49) then put on 75 for the third wicket before Tabraiz Shamsi removed Duckett.

Regular wickets for South Africa ensured the Lions' chase couldn't get going as Shamsi ended with 3/66, Maharah 2/32, Anrich Nortje 2/63 and Lungi Ngidi 2/39.

The Proteas will face England in the first one-day international on Tuesday at Chester-le-Street.
