Kieran Tierney dealt another injury hammer blow as Arsenal man despondent after setback in Sociedad clash

Scotland defender Kieran Tierney is facing an injury sweat after pulling up in his side's clash with Athletic Club.

The former Celtic man was starting for his side in their La Liga encounter but he prematurely departed just after the 20-minute mark due to what appears to be a hamstring issue. With a key Scotland match against Spain in just over a week, that could see Steve Clarke's side qualify for EURO 2024, the issue will be of grave concern for all in the Tartan Army.

The full extent of the injury is yet to be revealed but given the Arsenal defender's injury history, it seems inevitable that another spell on the sidelines is unfortunately in store for the currently on-loan Real Sociedad player. The 26-year-old reported had his head in his hands after the incident.

Ruairidh Barlow, editor of outlet Football Espana tweeted: "Kieran Tierney mid-sprint, pulls up holding the back of his thigh.

"Looks unlikely he'll be around for a few weeks. Scotland play Spain in 11 days. Tierney on the sideline lying down, head in hands after going off." His side ultimately ran out 3-0 winner in the league fixture.
