Matt O'Riley laps up Celtic kisses from 'crazy' fans with last gasp goal in instant new deal payback

The ink was barely dry on the new contract – but the payback was instant.

Matt O’Riley gave Celtic plenty of bang for their buck with a 97th-minute winner that sparked chaos at Fir Park. But Motherwell were entitled to feel they had got a raw deal. For a second week in a row the Steelmen poured everything into a clash with one of the Glasgow giants – but ended up empty handed. Well looked to have pocketed a point until sub Luis Palma’s cross sneaked into the far corner with just three minutes to go. Hoops fans spilled on to the pitch in celebration – but it was the home fans on the touchline when Blair Spittal levelled FIVE minutes into stoppage time. But it was mayhem again 120 seconds later when O’Riley arrived at the back post to tuck away Greg Taylor’s cross and kick off another wild celebration.

The hero of the hour admitted it was moments like this that made it easy to sign that new contract at Parkhead. O’Riley said: “I don’t know about fate but it was a cool way to wrap up a new contract.

“But it was cool. It was my favourite Celtic goal. A really cool moment, very special to be a part of it with the fans at that end as well. Quite surreal.”

Reo Hatate also signed a new four-year deal on the eve of the clash and O’Riley – who notched his fifth goal of the season – reckons it
