Steve Clarke reckons Germany isn't ready for 'five million' Scottish fans to show up and take over as he revealed how the squad reacted to qualifying for Euro 2024.

Spain's win over Norway sealed Scotland's place in the tournament and the only bittersweet aspect about it for the boss is that his players didn't get to seal it themselves. But there's more than a little consolation in it as he gets set to become the only Scotland manager in history to take his country to back-to-back Euros.

The squad gathered in the team hotel in Glasgow to watch Spain pick up the all-important win and Clarke revealed a few songs were sung as they get set to take Germany by storm. Speaking ahead of Tuesday's friendly clash with France, he said: "It was good, obviously we all sat together and watched the game, the moment when the final whistle goes and your qualification is secured is obviously a good moment.

“It’s not quite the same as doing it in a game situation, but we relaxed, we had a good couple of hours together, the boys sang a few songs and they were happy so hopefully they’ve recovered before tomorrow!

"I’m proud to be their head coach because they’ve consistently delivered for their country. I said that three years ago, this group of players are determined to be successful for Scotland and consistently they’ve shown that."

But is Germany ready for the Tartan Army? Clarke isn't so sure as he went on: “They deserve every bit of praise they get. I’m not sure Germany is ready for five million Scottish people to turn up! It seems like everybody you speak to is going to be in Germany next summer, I’m sure it won’t be five million but we’ll certainly take a big crowd.
