Kevin Nisbet alarm as Millwall injury 'looks quite bad' with Scotland qualifier looming

Kevin Nisbet could be an injury doubt for Scotland’s Euro 2024 qualifier in Spain next month after limping out of Millwall’s win over Rotherham on Wednesday night.

The striker injured his ankle 10 minutes into the second half and was replaced by Duncan Watmore with Lions boss Gary Rowett later admitting it “looks quite bad”. Nisbet has hit two goals in eight appearances for the Championship side since his summer move from Hibs and was an unused sub for Scotland in the last international double header against Cyprus and England.

The 26-year-old will now be assessed by Millwall’s medical staff to assess the extent of the injury with just three weeks to go until Scotland could potentially clinch qualification in Spain. He looks certain to miss tomorrow’s trip to West Brom. Rowett said: “Nisbet, I’ve just watched it again, there’s no one around him and he just almost turned his ankle.

“It looks quite bad but I don’t know until a couple of days later until it settles down. I’d imagine he’s going to be out for certainly the weekend and depending on scan results then we’ll see.

“It didn’t look great but again it’s impossible for me to say at this moment in time.”
