Celtic diehards turn on their own as Groan Brigade warned they sound like Rangers fans – Hotline

Celtic's Champions League defeat in Rotterdam continues to split Hotline callers just like Feyenoord’s top - right down the middle.

The 2-0 Group E loss had half the callers seeing red while the others reckon the performance, with nine men for the final 22 minutes, gives reason to believe things will be all white come the end of the group stage. Lazio and Atletico Madrid visit Parkhead in the next two group games.

But starting with the negatives and Gary Burns, Saltcoats, blasted: “This has to be the worst group of players Celtic have accumulated. We need a first class keeper. Celtic ignored the pleas of supporters. Where did they find the players they brought in? They are not good enough. Liam Scales is a fair player but too slow and Greg Taylor has lost the plot this season.”

Kevin Kean, Inchinnan, said: “It was frustrating to watch Celtic on Tuesday. This tippy-tappy stuff in our own box will lead to goals conceded. Brendan Rodgers' obstinacy in sticking to playing out from the back is way too risky and there was no plan to get the ball to our most potent threat, Kyogo. We’re chasing third spot again that would be success.”

Bill Waugh, Glasgow, said: “Why is it Celtic always have a bomb scare in central defence? Gustaf Lagerbielke is the latest in the long list of offenders. Rodgers says it’s inexperience. He’s been playing football for probably 15 years. You say that about nine year olds. I call it naivety.”

Meanwhile Graham Roberts, Edinburgh, said: “I wonder what the Celtic sympathisers immersed in Champions League statistics from last season think about their beloved Bhoys boasting the lowest win rate in competition history after losing 58.9 per cent of their matches? No wins in the previous 11 group games.
