Kevin De Bruyne's injury update as Man City title race admission made

Manchester City returned to Premier League action this weekend but unfortunately were unable to return to winning ways.

Erling Haaland's first half strike looked to have put City on course for a big three points vs Liverpool. Ruben Dias had a goal ruled out for a foul on Alisson in the second half as the Blues attempted to turn the screw.

However, Trent Alexander-Arnold fired home with 10 minutes remaining to ensure the points were shared and the top of the Premier League table remains firmly in the balance. City midfielder De Bruyne has confirmed that he hopes to be back available early in 2024 as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.

The 32-year-old has been sidelined since August after being forced off in City's Premier League opener against Burnley at Turf Moor. He was withdrawn just 23 minutes into the season curtain-raiser and has not played since.

Though City are firmly in the title shake-up this season, his presence in midfield has been sorely missed. He is the Blues' architect-in-chief and he directly contributed (goals and assists) to 41 goals in all competitions last season, helping the club secure a famous Treble.

Former Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand believes Arsenal are City's biggest threat to retaining their Premier League crown this season.

In Saturday's evening kick off, the Gunners moved to the top of the league with a narrow 1-0 win over Brentford. Kai Havertz bagged a late winner as Arsenal moved onto 30 points.
