Pep Guardiola gives Man City injury updates on Erling Haaland and Jeremy Doku

Pep Guardiola is hopeful that Erling Haaland and Jeremy Doku will return from injury in the next weeks as he played down concerns.

The Manchester City manager was without both for the 2-1 win over Luton, with a foot injury for Haaland picked up in midweek seeing him miss his first Premier League game of the season. Guardiola could not be certain that the striker will be back in time for Crystal Palace next week but stressed that the Norwegian has not suffered a fracture.

"Stress [on the] bone. Stress. Just stress," he said. "Please don’t ask that his foot is broken. It’s just stress bone.

"He was not ready for this game, I don’t think he will be ready for Crystal Palace. Hopefully he can be ready for Saudi Arabia (in the Club World Cup). Week-by-week will dictate how he feels."

Doku has not been seen since limping out of the 3-3 draw with Tottenham a week ago, failing to make the squad for either the Aston Villa or Luton matches. Guardiola suggested the Frenchman's problem wasn't serious in the same way that Kevin De Bruyne's injury has derailed his season, yet he could not give a return date as the club exercise caution.

"It’s muscular, it's not a big big issue like Kevin was for example," Guardiola added. "We have to think about it as well because he of his explosiveness. We have to be careful. I don’t know when he be ready, maybe one week or two weeks he will be ready again."
