Kennington manager Dan Scorer speaks of his disappointment at FA Vase exit having led twice at Crawley Down in second-round tie

Dan Scorer described Kennington’s FA Vase exit as one of their most disappointing performances this season.

Ton, looking to reach the third round for just the second time in their history, lost 3-2 at Crawley Down last weekend.

There was further frustration as Faversham Strike Force inflicted a 3-0 Southern Counties East Premier Division defeat at Homelands on Wednesday night.

Ton led 1-0 and 2-1 at Crawley Down but were beaten by a late goal.

“It was certainly the most, or certainly one of the most, disappointing performances so far this season,” said Kennington manager Scorer.

“It was a game in which, despite us not being near the standard I know we are capable of, we still managed to control and it was more a case of not managing the big moments in the right way.

“We put ourselves ahead twice and haven’t done enough, not managed the game anywhere near well enough, then not done anywhere near enough or shown enough to get ourselves back into the game.

“It was a game we should have been a lot better in.

“I don't know if people can look at it and say it's off the back of a really big result, big performance against Rusthall (3-2 league win).

“But that's really just one shining moment in a disappointing few weeks. It's one win and four defeats in our last five games.

“By our standards, it's not been good enough.

“I can sympathise with the boys because we've had to make quite a significant amount of changes and rotate quite frequently because of injuries and suspensions. It certainly doesn't help, certainly unsettled us defensively.

“I do sympathise and I appreciate that it's difficult.
