Co-owner Lloyd Hume has stood down as Ashford United manager.
Hume had been combining the roles since Danny Kedwell was sacked in January.
But he’s decided to step away from the dugout, with assistant manager Craig Stone placed in caretaker charge.
Ashford moved out of the Isthmian South East relegation zone on goal difference in Hume’s final game in charge, a 1-1 draw at home to Sheppey United, on Saturday.
Gary Lockyer put the hosts in front with his 100th Ashford goal but they were reduced to 10 men when Louis Collins was sent off and conceded a second-half own goal.
“Lloyd has decided to step away from the responsibility of managing the first team,” said an Ashford statement.
“Craig Stone will take over as interim first-team manager with immediate effect.
“The owners remain committed to driving the club forward both on and off the pitch and will communicate further during the week.”
