Kennington manager Dan Scorer pays tribute to brother Tom after midfielder scores his 100th goal for the club
Kennington manager Dan Scorer paid tribute to brother Tom after the midfielder scored his 100th goal for the club.
Scorer brought up the milestone during high-flying Ton’s 5-0 home win over Corinthian on Saturday.
He’s been a class performer over the years and deserves all the accolades coming his way.
“It's nice for Tom to get his 100th goal for the club,” said boss Scorer.
“Someone who for 10 years now has given so much to the club.
“His support for me, the club and what I've tried to do, he's certainly helped me on my managerial journey.
“He's helped ease the burden of sometimes finding a player with that moment of magic.
“That's the type of player he's always been.
“It is interesting now seeing some of the younger midfielders come into the club and look at Tom. He's not the most athletic-looking person now.
“They still see those moments of magic in games and in training.
“They look a bit shocked and think he must have been decent. He's still got that level of ability.
“He's adapted his game so well over the last two or three years in particular. He was always a forward-thinking, play-making type of player.
“He would glide past players, which he's always been relatively well known for.
“As he's got a little bit older, he's lost that yard of pace.
“He's had to adapt his game and now he's playing in a deeper role where his footballing brain and vision is coming into play massively.
“He's able to dictate games from that deeper role in midfield.
“We continue to benefit from it. I'm made up for him.
“For someone who's never actually played as a forward, to have 100 goals in less than 300 games, that contribution in less than one in three, I think is incredible.
“He's played a rather significant part in the club's success
