Jurgen Klopp tells Bayern Munich exactly where he stands on vacancy just moments after Tuchel departure

Jurgen Klopp's agent wasted no time in confirming the departing Liverpool boss' stance on the Bayern Munich job, just moments after Thomas Tuchel announced he was leaving.

Tuchel revealed he would be leaving the German club at the end of this season earlier today after falling eight points behind Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen. Klopp, who is set to leave Liverpool in the summer, had been suggested as a possible replacement. But that always appeared unlikely with Klopp presumed to be taking some time out of the game after almost nine years at Anfield.

Bayern and Tuchel have agreed to end their partnership, which was originally due to run until 30 June 2025, a year early on 30 June 2024. The decision came after a constructive discussion between CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and Thomas Tuchel, according to a statement from the club.

After revealing Tuchel's departure, Bayern's chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen confirmed that the German giants would be pursuing a "new footballing direction". He also urged the team to fully focus on making Tuchel's final months successful.

"In a good, open discussion, we decided to end our working relationship by mutual agreement in the summer. Our aim is to pursue a new footballing direction with a new head coach for the 2024/25
