Julen Lopetegui issues Anthony Martial warning to Sevilla's La Liga title rivals

Sevilla manager Julen Lopetegui has fired a warning to their La Liga title rivals after Manchester United loanee Anthony Martial starred in their win over Elche.

The Reds attacker showed signs of being back to his best during their triumph on Friday night with Martial providing an assist for Rafa Mir's header after playing a key role in Alejandro Gomez's opener in their 2-0 win over Elche.

He received a standing ovation following his substitution after 82 minutes on his home debut after initially enduring a stuttering start during their stalemate with Osasuna last weekend.

Their win narrowed the gap at the top to three points and Lopetegui had a message for their rivals and nodded towards his lack of activity under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick for his slow start.

"He is a footballer who [has] arrived now, the adaptation, the time and the demands are great," he said via AS.

"He comes from not playing for his team.

"He can play in several positions. He has that ability, the most important thing is what we do in each game."

Martial's assist was his first for his new club after joining on loan from United last month.
