Anthony Martial verdict delivered by Lopetegui as Manchester United loanee opens Sevilla account

Sevilla manager Julen Lopetegui has once again stressed that patience is needed with Manchester United loanee Anthony Martial.

The Frenchman opened his account for the La Liga title-chasers in their Europa League win over Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday night.

Martial played an influential role in their first-leg win over the Croatian side, helping his team break the deadlock after being involved in the move that eventually resulted in Ivan Rakitic opening the scoring.

A flurry of goals towards the end of the opening 45 saw Martial open his account in Spain, but Lopetegui has looked to cool the excitement around the January arrival.

“He is a player who needs time," he said via Onze Mondial.

Martial already looks to be settling into life in Spain and he played a vital role in Sevilla's win over Elche last week.

The United loanee's persistence forced the Elche backline into an error that allowed Papu Gomez to find the back of the net, and just minutes later he notched his first assist for the club as his left-footed cross was headed in by Rafa Mir.

Martial will be hoping to retain his place in the starting XI when Sevilla face Espanyol this weekend.
