Josh Doig to Rangers transfer enters end game as Verona's Serie A rivals hit accelerate over wanted man
Rangers will need to act fast if they want to swoop for Josh Doig after Torino's president held a meeting with the left-back's representative.
The Scotland international has impressed in Italy since moving to Hellas Verona from Hibs in 2022, but is now heavily linked with making a move home. Ridvan Yilmaz has been linked with going the other way and Borna Barisic is out of contract at the end of the season, so left-back will become a problem position for Rangers boss Philippe Clement sooner rather than later.
According to CalcioMercato, Torino president Urbano Cairo had a meeting with Doig's representative after watching his team coast to an impressive 3-0 win over Napoli. The meeting with his agent - named as Paolo Busardo - was to "to discuss contractual issues, ambitions and more." The left-back has been tracked by the Turin-based club since the summer transfer window.
Now contacts between parties are "accelerating". Negotiations will continue but Rangers will need to act fast if they want a say in this race.
Hibs may also hope for the outbreak of a bidding war in the star, with Torino looking at £3.5m plus player and sell-on deal. Their stake in the deal is clamed to be as high as 27.5 per cent.
