Jose Cifuentes given Rangers reality check with 'LA to Ayrshire' reminder as Michael Beale reveals 3 injury boosts

Jose Cifuentes has been told by Michael Beale that he'll find Ayrshire a far cry from Los Angeles when he debuts for Rangers on Saturday.

The Ecuadorian sealed a five-year deal with Beale's men on Thursday and has trained from the off in his bid to make the Premiership curtain raiser against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park this weekend. Cifuentes became Rangers' recruit number nine, following in the footsteps of fellow South American Danilo who joined the Ibrox ranks from Feyenoord. Beale had been looking to bring the midfielder in for some time but finally terms were thrashed out with MLS outfit LAFC for the 24-year-old.

And Cifuentes has been given strict orders that there will be no rest for the wicked as Beale plans to deploy the enforcer against Derek McInnes' side. It will be a league debut for a host of stars with the likes of goalkeeper Jack Butland, attacker Kieran Dowell and forward Sam Lammers all expected to turn their steady pre-season form in to goals in the Premiership. The London boss also provided a key update on some stars' fitness, with defender Connor Goldson to be included in the squad.

It's not the same good news for Ridvan Yilmaz who has a strain, while Beale reckons lowering the average age of his squad future-proofs the Light Blues.

He said: "Fashion Jr will not be involved tomorrow with the squad. We have lost Ridvan today to a strain, other than that everyone else is available. Connor Goldson trained and will return tomorrow to the squad. Tom Lawrence is continuing to recover. Ben Davies will miss out tomorrow. Goldson, Souttar and King are all back available so we are not short of options at the back.
