John Eustace delivers Sam Cosgrove verdict after first Birmingham City goal

Birmingham City maintained their unbeaten start to pre-season with a 2-1 victory away to League One Burton Albion. A goal in each half from George Hall and Sam Cosgrove gave John Eustace's men the Bass Charity Vase.

Eustace was pleased with aspects of his side's performance, delighted to see goals from Hall and Cosgrove and once again praised his players' application.

He also discussed the arrival of Auston Trusty and John Ruddy amongst other issues. Here is the full transcript from his post-match interview.

It was a really useful work out today, Burton are a few games ahead of us, they are very sharp, I watched the game against Forest on Tuesday so we knew it was going to be a tough test and I am obviously delighted with the result.

I was looking for that structure without the ball again. We have done a lot of work with that in the previous ten days we have been in, and at times it really paid off today. Obviously we were playing a couple of players out of position, we wanted to see if they could play in those areas as well.

The first day I came I spoke to George and asked him how many goals he scored last year and he said none. To score early is fantastic for him. He has got a massive future ahead of him. He is a very bright young player and I am delighted to be working with him.

With Sam I know he hasn’t had the best of times at the club but his attitude since we have come in has been a different class and he fully deserved to score the winner today.
