Jimmy Thelin fires Aberdeen 'stay humble' message after best start of ANY Pittodrie boss

Jimmy Thelin has praised his Aberdeen squad for storming to seven straight wins.

But the Swede insists nobody is getting carried away and everybody at the club has to remain humble. Thelin has made the best start of any Dons manager, with five wins in the Premier Sports Cup and two in the Premiership. Aberdeen and Celtic are the only top-flight sides with a 100 per cent record but the boss knows it is still early days and there is plenty of room for improvement in his high-flying squad.

Thelin said: “You need some luck and to work hard. You also need a strong belief in what you are doing but we need to stay humble. We know it is really early in the season and there are a lot of games left. It is step by step and every training session. We need to keep doing that to achieve something together. There are still a lot of things to learn and improve but I like the mentality because it is so easy to get stressed in these types of games. The players were really focused and put on repeat and took it all the way against Queen’s Park.”

Aberdeen’s next challenge comes against Kilmarnock this Sunday. They are then away to Ross County, home to Motherwell, home to Spartans in the Premier Sports Cup quarter-finals, away to Dundee then entertain Hearts before either of Glasgow’s big two come into focus. But Thelin’s focus won’t shift any further than Killie.

Aberdeen welcome back Slobodan Rubezic back from his cup suspension. Young Jack Milne came in and deputised against Queen’s. He had one brief scare and his manager praised the 21-year-old for his efforts. Thelin knows how important it is to have a pathway from the Cormack Park academy.

The Swede said: “Jack hasn’t played so much but then he came into a really important game.
