Jeremy Doku gives Man City hint of future as Bernardo Silva and Kyle Walker excel in internationals

As Pep Guardiola gears up to return from his period of rest following his back surgery, he will have been pleased with how the international break panned out for his Manchester City squad.

Erling Haaland backed up his goal-machine reputation after finding the net for Norway in their 2-1 win over Georgia in Euro 2024 qualifying having sat out the friendly against Jordan. He now has 25 goals in 26 senior caps for his country.

Meanwhile, Kyle Walker had an excellent break. He was overjoyed to have bagged his first England goal against Ukraine in Saturday's Euros qualifier before putting in a sterling defensive display in Tuesday’s 3-1 win over Scotland.

Kalvin Phillips played a full 90 minutes at Hampden Park for the first time since the final day of last season's Premier League, having failed to feature against Ukraine. After a substitute appearance in Poland, Phil Foden played excellently on the right flank in the friendly triumph over Scotland and grabbed the opening goal of the match with a deft finish from Walker’s cross.

Jeremy Doku grabbed an assist in Belgium's 5-0 win over Estonia in what City fans will hope is a sign of things to come from the winger, who also featured for 24 minutes against Azerbaijan.

Rodri also got an assist while playing for Spain in their 6-0 Euro qualifying win over Cyprus having played 72 minutes in the 7-1 mauling of Georgia.

Bernardo Silva also got in on the act by providing an assist for Portugal’s winner against Slovakia and another in the 9-0 thrashing of Luxembourg. Ruben Dias completed 90 minutes in both matches.

Ederson played both of Brazil’s 2026 World Cup qualifying wins over Bolivia and Peru
