Jeanfield Swifts build-up play praised by manager Robbie Holden after Perth derby win against Kinnoull

Jeanfield Swifts earned the bragging rights from the first ever Perth derby in the East of Scotland League’s Premier Division.

Swifts, in the end, ran out comfortable 5-1 winners against their Fair City neighbours at Tulloch Park.

It was actually an own goal which got the ball rolling for the visitors and that was how the scoreline stood at the break.

Into the second half and Jordan Northcott (pictured) finished off a neat move to double the advantage.

But Kinnoull had a lifeline when, seconds after the restart, Reece Bernard guided into the bottom corner after finding space at the edge of the box.

Swifts, however, would move on to create breathing space and ease to the three points to keep their charge going at the top end of the table.

Dayle Robertson nudged over the line from close range and then defender Kieran Sweeney nodded in the fourth.

Another header - this time from Matthew Cullerton - rounded off the scoring.

“It was a good result for us and I think we were well worth it,” Swifts manager Robbie Holden explained.

“We dominated possession and some of the goals showed really good build up play so it was a great three points.

“We switched off after scoring the second and let them back into it but we went and got the next goal to run out quite comfortable winners.”

Swifts moved back to second in the Premier Division standings and three points back of leaders Broxburn.

Holden added: “I think we would have taken this start, but we are still a little sore from the defeat at Broxburn.

“Hopefully the Kinnoull game can kick-start another run of good form.”

Kinnoull manager Barry Cockburn felt his side had managed to contain Swifts pretty well in the opening 45 minutes.

“I won’t make any excuses for the result,” he said.
