Jean-Clair Todibo has already told Manchester United what they want to hear

Manchester United target Jean-Clair Todibo could be on his way out of Nice this summer and the central defender could join one of his heroes at Old Trafford.

Todibo is among a number of central defenders to have been linked with a move to Old Trafford as Erik ten Hag plans to strengthen in that area. Any interest will only likely be acted upon following departures at the back, with Harry Maguire the most likely to leave.

Th 30-year-old was stripped of the captaincy earlier this summer and has attracted interest from West Ham. United have rejected a £30million bid for their defender but David Moyes' side are keen to act quickly with the new season just days away.

Todibo endured a tough start to senior football with unsuccessful spells at Barcelona, Schalke and Benfica, but found his feet in France with Nice. Such was his form last season that the 23-year-old earned his first France call up in March - and it was there that he named Raphael Varane as one of his main inspirations.

"For the coach to have a clear idea of my personality, I have to be as natural as possible," He told the media at the time.

"My journey, I've known it for a while and I've lived it, with good periods and a little less good. I only think about performing and bringing as much as possible to the group.
