Raphael Varane sends clear message to Manchester United amid Saudi Arabia transfer links

Raphael Varane appears to have made clear his desire to stay at Manchester United amid speculation linking him with a move to Saudi Arabia.

Last season's Saudi Pro League champions Al Ittihad have reportedly expressed their interest in signing Varane this summer. He is said to be the latest big-name target being eyed, with the likes of Karim Benzema, N'Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez all heading to the Middle East over the past few months.

Speculation linking the 30-year-old with a move away has been conflicting, with some reports suggesting he would be open to a switch while others insisting a transfer is highly unlikely. And the Reds defender looks to have poured cold water on any rumours, cementing his stance on social media.

On Wednesday, Varane posted a picture of himself kissing the United badge alongside a caption consisting of a red circle and two swords crossing. It appears to be the French international insisting he will stay at United and that he is happy to do so.

Varane has started both of United's Premier League games this season and remains a vital part of Erik ten Hag's side. His place alongside Lisandro Martinez in central defence was sealed throughout last season and the partnership shows no signs of being broken up.

Varane will turn 31 in April and enter the final 12 months of his United contract next summer, at which point he will likely consider his future and make a decision on whether to sign a new deal or move elsewhere. But there seems very little chance of a shock move in the final nine
