Jay Slater's mum sent message saying 'we have your son' with vile picture in troll terror

Jay Slater's mum Debbie Duncan has revealed she was sent a sick fake picture by a vile troll of her son being tortured after he disappeared.

Tearful Debbie said she was bombarded by hundreds of disgusting messages from online trolls during the month-long search for her son in Tenerife. She said she was 'terrorised' by the 'sick individuals' from the minute she landed on the Spanish island to help look for 19-year-old Jay.

Speaking in an interview with The Sun, Debbie, 56, wept as she revealed one troll sent her a disgusting mock-up picture of her son being tortured. The image was a photo-shopped picture of 'Jay' with a chain around his neck and a gash under one eye.

It was sent with the caption 'we have your son'. Another video was sent to her which was supposed to show Jay being beaten by captors - but was revealed to have been taken in Russia 10 years ago.

Last week, a handwritten letter from an anonymous writer in Birmingham was sent to the mum after her son's funeral which read 'why bother to go to all the fuss?'. Debbie said she has reported some of the messages to police – and has vowed to campaign for tougher laws on trolling.

"I don’t even have the words to describe how sick these individuals are", she told The Sun. “I have been terrorised by trolls.

“I have tried to block it out but you can’t. However, if I had paid attention to all of them I’d be in a padded cell."

Debbie started to receive the sick messages after her number was shared online as part of an appeal when Jay went missing on June 17. When she and her son Zak touched down in Tenerife, her phone pinged with the first sick message
