The teenager went missing on June 17 after a night out in Playa de las Americas. The apprentice bricklayer had been partying in Papagayo nightclub the night before he vanished.

Following the rave, Jay travelled more than 30km north to a remote Airbnb in the village of Masca, before leaving on foot into the Rural Parc de Teno. As he left the Airbnb, he called his friend Lucy to say he was in the middle of nowhere and was trying to get home with no water and 1 per cent on his phone battery.

He also sent his phone location, which pinged in the remote area close to Masca.

A court spokesperson said: "Court of Instruction Number One in Icod de los Vinos can confirm that through fingerprints the body has been identified as that of Jay Slater.
