Jamie Vardy and Wesley Fofana injury update ahead of Leicester City's trip to Watford

Jamie Vardy will not need to sport his iconic cast again after manager Brendan Rodgers said the striker’s wrist was fine.

Vardy made his name with bright blue strapping on his arm during City’s title-winning campaign, but there will not need to be a repeat. The 35-year-old appeared to injure his wrist in the win over Norwich in midweek, when Rodgers said it was sore, but there is no significant damage.

Rodgers said when asked if Vardy’s wrist was fine: “It hasn’t been reported otherwise. I’ve spoken to Jamie today. He hasn’t complained about it, so it must have just been a blow at the time.”

City’s squad to face Watford this weekend will be the same as it was for the victory over the Canaries, but with one addition. Wesley Fofana was a late withdrawal from the midweek game, the Frenchman suffering from a tight calf, but he is back in contention.

Rodgers said: “Wesley Fofana should be back and fit. Danny Ward had a wee bit of an issue, but he should be fine. Apart from that, it should be the same squad.”

That means City have just three players on the sidelines for the final three games of the season. Wilfred Ndidi and Ryan Bertrand are out with long-term knee issues, while Ricardo Pereira is away in Portugal treating hamstring problems.
