James Tavernier reveals 4 Rangers changes from Michael Beale era as Clement reveals how standards have raised

James Tavernier has revealed Philippe Clement's big fitness vow is more than words as the Belgian gets down to work at Ibrox ahead of Sunday's Viaplay Cup semi-final with Hearts

Michael Beale got them to Hampden after wins over Morton and Livingston, but after his sacking last month, it's now up to the new gaffer to deliver a trophy the Light Blues haven't won in 12 years. Clement has been left puzzled by the injury situation at Ibrox and has urged his stars to make better use of the cryochamber at Auchenhowie, which aids recovery.

Improving fitness has been a key demand of Clement's and as he prepares them for Mount Florida against the Jambos, Rangers captain Tavernier says players have been going the extra mile in training. He said: "He's got his own ideas. Every manager has their own ideas. The gaffer has come and brought his own stamp to the game.

"He is getting the best out the players at the minute. We are really tuned in to what he wants and it's working really well so far.

"He's put his own imprint on it. He's raised the standards higher, the demands higher, he wants the team to be fitter and we are training really hard. He's put his own stamp on it and we are responding really well.

"The higher distances in training has probably changed, especially after recovery days, the distances are higher. So small changes.

" I think he's made it clear for everyone in the team, he wants everyone at the same fitness level so when asked, everyone can be there and give 100% and be fit for the team. That's the main thing he has brought to the table, as in for the squad.
