James McAtee details Vincent Kompany Man City coaching sessions ahead of Monday reunion

Sheffield United midfielder James McAtee is hoping to put an end to Burnley's promotion celebrations on Monday with lessons learned from their manager Vincent Kompany.

McAtee is enjoying a brilliant season on-loan from Manchester City, his six goals and three assists helping the Blades into second-place and an automatic promotion spot as it stands. Paul Heckingbottom's side are 11 points behind league leaders Burnley, who secured automatic promotion with a win against Middlesbrough on Friday.

Kompany has been incredible since taking charge at Turf Moor, the former City captain going from strength to strength after cutting his teeth in the Blues academy during the latter stages of his playing days. During that spell, the Belgian will have coached a young McAtee, who will hope to ruin the party when the pair meet on Monday.

“I remember him coaching us when we were at under-16 level," McAtee told the Sheffield Star. "He did a few sessions with us, when he was looking to get into that area of things I think. All of the lads were buzzing to have someone like him telling us stuff and it was a really great feeling.

"I don’t think he’ll remember me at all, if I’m being honest, but you never know I suppose. It will be nice to come across someone who is a City legend again but, really, all I’m bothered about is trying to make sure we win.”

McAtee has been central to a Sheffield side on course for a return to the Premier League, with their dramatic FA Cup win over Blackburn Rovers setting up a fairytale semi-final tie with City at Wembley.
