James Maddison makes incredible Aaron Wan-Bissaka claim after Manchester United vs Brighton

Leicester City midfielder James Maddison hailed Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka after his impressive performance in Sunday's FA Cup semi-final against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon.

Tasked with keeping a close eye on Brighton star Kaoru Mitoma, Wan-Bissaka dealt with the threat of the Japan international with ease. He kept the Seagulls ace at arm's length up until being taken off and replaced by Tyrell Malacia in the 11th minute of extra time.

Wan-Bissaka, who joined United from Crystal Palace back in 2019, is widely considered one of the best one-vs-one full-backs in world football, despite his attacking game, certainly as a modern-day full-back, often being criticised. Nevertheless, he has moved ahead of Diogo Dalot in the pecking order to start at right-back and his performance at Wembley highlighted why.

Despite uncertainty continuing to surround his long-term future at Old Trafford, Wan-Bissaka's United career has been resurrected since the season restarted after the World Cup in December. He earned just four minutes worth of first-team football prior to the showpiece event in Qatar, compared to the 25 appearances he has chalked up since the mid-season break.

He has continued his revival in recent weeks and his display against Brighton was full proof of that. Therefore, it was hardly surprising when Maddison made the decision to take to social media at the end of regulation time.

Taking to Twitter, the Leicester midfielder posted: "AWB is ridiculously good at one-v-one defending. Probably the best in the world bar none. So many wingers run out of ideas when playing directly against him."
