Benni McCarthy opens up on Manchester United future as he reveals 'dream club'

Benni McCarthy admits he is at his 'dream club' in Manchester United amid praise for manager Erik ten Hag.

The South African joined United as one of Ten Hag's coaching staff last summer, despite the pair not having spent any time working together during the past. A former striker with Porto and Blackburn Rovers, his role since has been to work with United's attacking contingent.

And McCarthy has come in for major praise due to his work with Marcus Rashford. The 25-year-old has enjoyed his best-ever season with 29 goals and 11 assists in 51 appearances across all competitions, often praising his coach for his influence.

And speaking with South African media recently, McCarthy has admitted he intends to spend a long time at Old Trafford learning from Ten Hag.

"Erik ten Hag is trying to imitate the good years that brought so much joy to people's lives," McCarthy told the Idiski Times. "I'm part of his team, I'm super excited, and I couldn't be prouder of myself for just learning what I had to learn.

"I kissed the frogs that I needed to kiss, and now I'm at my dream club. I want to learn as much as I can from Ten Hag. He has such humility. He is humble, he is incredible, like just a complete gentleman. He is top, top, top-notch in terms of tactics [and] in terms of the way you want to play. He has a clear team vision."
