James Maddison's Man United admission and 'dream' of playing at Old Trafford amid transfer links

Leicester City midfielder James Maddison has already admitted he fulfilled a childhood dream by playing at Old Trafford.

The England international has been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer, with recent reports suggesting he could leave his current club regardless of whether they remain in the Premier League or not.

The prospect of his potential arrival at Old Trafford will no doubt be an attractive one for United fans considering his impressive form at the King Power Stadium after joining from Norwich City in 2018, but it may also be filling the player himself with anticipation too.

Maddison, 26, is a childhood United fan and previously named Reds legend Wayne Rooney as his favourite player in Premier League history.

The midfielder made his Premier League debut for Leicester during a 2-1 loss to United in August 2018, and has already admitted it was something of a career-high.

Asked if there were moments he's faced opponents he'd never expected to during his career during a 2019 interview with Sky Sports, Maddison said: "I think my Premier League debut was the one. At Old Trafford, Manchester United away, stood in the tunnel. Mourinho walks past and Pogba and co. I was just like 'I'm here now, I've arrived. And now it's time to go show everyone what I can do.'

"Because you work so hard to get to those moments and I don't think you can take them for granted. It's a case of obviously staying grounded, it's my debut.

"But after the game, I did think to myself 'I've just played at Old Trafford in the Premier League, something I dreamed about as a young boy.'"
