Jakarta Formula E Organizers Downplay Roof Incident, Execute Immediate Fixes
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Formula E Operation (FEO) principle HSE Richar Bates recently clarified the incident that saw one of the nine temporary Jakarta E-Prix circuit’s grandstands collapse due to bad weather. Fortunately, there were no casualties in the incident as workers were not present at the specific location.
Bates believed fixing the issue will not be a complicated problem, saying repairs will be completed on June 2 or two days before the scheduled event on June 4. “Our target is [to fix it] on Thursday at its max,” said Bates to Antaranews.
Moreover, he assured that fans would have nothing to worry about as the FEO guarantees that the structure of the grandstand infrastructure is built according to international standards.
“The FEO and Jakpro will make sure that the roofs will be under optimum condition and under international standards by the FEO and Jakpro,” he added.
Formula E Jakarta vice managing director Gunung Kartiko on Monday downplayed the incident and assured that it is only one out of the nine grandstand roofs that collapsed.
“This is not the entirety of the roof structure. We have nine grandstands from 2a until 2i and the damage was only to one of them,” said Kartiko to Antaranews on May 30. “No workers were injured. Richard himself inspected the location. He is experienced in HSE and assured no workers were working late at night.”
