'It could easily have killed us'...Horror as Audi ploughs into garden during police chase and 'pins' teen under car

A man says his brother is lucky to be alive after an Audi being chased by police crashed into the side of their house and landed on its roof in their garden.

Eyewitnesses said the car, which was being pursued by officers after allegedly failing to stop, ploughed into a tree before flying through the air and hitting the gable wall of the property on Union Road, where Thomas Ashley, 22, lives with his two siblings, his mum, and step-dad.

Mr Ashley says he had got up to make a drink shortly before the smash however his 19-year-old brother who remained in the garden was struck and initially pinned under the car, which overturned and came to rest upside down.

Mr Ashley and his family have been advised not to sleep in their home whilst potential structural damage is assessed.

"Where the car's landed, I was sat there about 30 seconds beforehand with my brother was on the bench on the other side," Mr Ashley told the Manchester Evening News.

"I have come in to make a drink. As I got to the kitchen on the other side of the house, I heard a bang, came running out, and saw the car was upside down in the garden.

"What my brother said had happened was it had come down the road being chased by police, gone through the tree, and hit our fence which is when its flipped.

"He heard it, has gone to move, and as he's gone to move it's hit him. It sent him flying into the wall, and landed
