Inter Milan reveal Lautaro Martinez's transfer stance amid Manchester United links

Inter Milan chief Javier Zanetti says Lautaro Martinez is content at Inter and confirmed that no offers have yet been made for the attacker.

The Argentina striker is not on Manchester United’s striker transfer shortlist despite tentative links. The 25-year-old scored 28 times this season as he guided his team to the Champions League final.

Martinez has three years left on his contract so would not be a cheap buy. Erik ten Hag is still in the dark over his transfer budget amid the United takeover process.

He is targeting a striker, midfielder and a new first-choice goalkeeper with David de Gea out of contract at the end of the month as renewal negotiations stall. Ten Hag has already been scouting potential targets.

Anderlecht goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen is on his radar. Mason Mount has agreed personal terms although a fee is yet to be agreed with Chelsea while talks have been held with Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund.

Aside from Hojlund, the likes of Victor Osimhen and Randal Kolo Muani make Ten Hag’s striker list with Tottenham staying stubborn over Harry Kane.

Martinez may also be a tough buy, given Zanetti’s comments about the player's mood. He told Calciomercato: “Lautaro is very happy at Inter. There is nothing with other clubs.”

Paul Scholes is one analyst who would support United’s pursuit of Martinez, should one ever be sanctioned.

He recently told BT Sport: “I like Lautaro Martinez. I think he’s Ten Hag’s type of player. (He will) run about, be aggressive, go against people.”

As well as his 28 goals, Martinez registered 11 assists this season. He enjoyed an emphatic winter as he lifted the World Cup with Argentina in Qatar before leading his club to Istanbul
