Inside Kieran Tierney's first day at Real Sociedad as torrential rain in Spain makes Celtic hero feel right at home

Sunshine and factor 50 was likely on the job description - but Kieran Tierney got some home comforts as the Celtic hero ran out in front of Real Sociedad fans for the first time.

Talk of a sensational return to Glasgow was put to bed over the weekend as the left-back jetted out to Spain for a season-long loan at the Basque side. Tierney had fallen down the pecking order at Arsenal and was training on his own in his final days at the Gunners, with Mikel Arteta green lighting a move that will see the Scotland star play Champions League football.

His first game could come this weekend against Granada but ahead of the match, the 26-year-old has been training in front of his new fans at an open training session. It was torrential rain that met the Celtic favourite in weather akin to conditions he was used to at Lennoxtown.

After an introductory session of meeting new faces and time on the grass, he then took time to sign autographs and take selfies with fans. There will be challenges like the language barrier to overcome but Tierney will be keen to help Sociedad achieve another top four finish in Spain's top flight.
