INEOS stance on January transfers as Manchester United investment details emerge

Manchester United have one eye on the January transfer window after their stunning Boxing Day comeback win over Aston Villa. Goals from Alejandro Garnacho (2) and Rasmus Hojlund did the damage at Old Trafford after Erik ten Hag's side found themselves 2-0 down at the break.

It was a morale-boosting victory for the Dutchman and key figures behind the scenes. The win came less than 48 hours after investment from Sir Jim Ratcliffe was rubber-stamped.

United must consult INEOS Group on any major decisions they make in the January transfer window.

Ratcliffe and INEOS may have to wait for up to eight weeks for the £1.3billion investment in United to be ratified. INEOS sporting director Sir Dave Brailsford and former Paris Saint-Germain chief executive Jean-Claude Blanc will join the football board once the deal is completed.

United are already consulting with relevant figures at INEOS over, potentially, significant changes to the playing staff next month while any decision on manager Ten Hag's future would also have to be okayed by INEOS Group.
