Incredible Celtic Treble stat shuts Rangers punter down as Hotline regular banishes one 'boring' myth

Hotliners threw cold water on suggestions that Aberdeen raise their game for Rangers and lie down to Celtic in the wake of the Dons’ spirited show against the Hoops at the weekend.

Liam Birney, Paisley, emailed: “Rangers fans like John Bruce love to compare Rangers and Celtic’s performances, i.e. Celtic playing poorly and winning while his team also played poorly and lost! John, wake up and smell the coffee - since 2012 Celtic have won 24 major honours to Rangers' 2. Last season Celtic beat Rangers 4 times without playing particularly well. Now that’s a comparison based on fact not opinion. And as for Aberdeen laying down to Celtic; that one is now old and boring.”

Kenny Wilson, Moffat, emailed: “As usual John Bruce is watching the world through blue glasses, saying Celtic got their traditional helping hand from Aberdeen. Anyone who watched the game knows Aberdeen gave Celtic a torrid time and they’ve improved massively.

“Also a team apparently only tries against Rangers but went over a quarter of a century without winning at Ibrox? As for Rangers going into the Old Firm game, I never knew beating Livingston at home was the benchmark for the season. Off-form Celtic are still winning and will improve at the right time and win the big games as always.”

High McKirdy added: “As an Aberdeen fan I’ll repeat my message to Rangers fans (John Bruce in particular) for suggesting Aberdeen don’t try against Celtic...Celtic have won five Trebles since Rangers came back to the top flight! They never won any in their absence, so look in before you look out.”
