I was the next big thing at Manchester United but now I can’t get a game

Adnan Januzaj was once tipped as the next big thing at Manchester United after bursting onto the scene.

At just 19 years old, the Belgian made a total of 38 appearances in 2013/14, his first season in the first team at Old Trafford, scoring five goals and providing a further eight assists. He made his debut in the Premier League clash against Crystal Palace, with his first goals coming just a few weeks later with a brace in a 2-1 win over Sunderland.

However, after a positive first season under David Moyes, Januzaj saw his game time slowly decrease following the appointment of Louis van Gaal. That was the start of the end of his career at Old Trafford, and he moved on less than a year later.

The now 29-year-old was highly-rated during his time at the club, having joined the youth teams from Anderlecht. But he has had a career full of ups and downs in the seasons that have followed.

Here is a look at how the Belgium international has got on since sealing an exit from the club.

The winger left Old Trafford, initially on loan, in 2015, joining Borussia Dortmund. He spent six months with the German side before returning in January after failing to score in 12 appearances.

The following season saw him go on loan to Sunderland. His time with the Blackcats saw him score once and provide three assists in 28 appearances.

Upon his return to Old Trafford in the summer of 2017, he completed a permanent move to Real Sociedad. United received a reported fee of £9.8 million for the player.
