I was frozen out by Jose Mourinho at Manchester United and still don't know the real reason why

Bastian Schweinsteiger has admitted he has no hard feelings over the way he was treated by Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.

The German midfielder joined the Red Devils during the summer of 2015 and made a total of 31 appearances across all competitions in his debut season under Louis van Gaal - who he had previously worked under at Bayern Munich.

Van Gaal was sacked by United days after winning the FA Cup in 2016 and replaced by Jose Mourinho, whose arrival coincided with Schweinsteiger being frozen out of the side for no clear reason.

The 2014 World Cup winner was left out of the squad on the majority of occasions and forced to train away from the first-team before briefly being reintroduced for four matches either side of the New Year, starting only an FA Cup game against Wigan Athletic.
