A well-travelled YouTuber has offered a straightforward tip that could help you save money during international trips. Christian, a travel vlogger who has visited around 100 countries over the past decade, is no stranger to sharing travel advice.

On his channel, Lost LeBlanc, he's recently divulged 50 of the most valuable tips he's picked up on his global adventures. For those familiar with the challenges of managing finances while abroad, particularly when it comes to currency exchange rates, Christian's latest suggestion could prove invaluable.

He advises travellers to be vigilant when faced with a certain question at payment terminals overseas. Christian explained: "When you go to make a transaction, how many times have you seen that prompt: 'Would you like to pay in the local currency or in your hometown currency?'"

He added: "Always choose local currency. If you're in Bali, pay in IDR; if you're in Dubai, pay in AED. If you choose your hometown currency, you are going to be paying a savage conversion rate to the ATM machine."

He further advised: "You're better off paying the transaction fee to your hometown bank than that random little payment processor in the coffee shop in Medellín."
