"I'm led to believe" - Insider now drops huge Man United claim involving Pochettino and Kane

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane would be tempted to join Manchester United if the Red Devils appoint former Spurs chief Mauricio Pochettino as their boss ahead of next season, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Ralf Rangnick is currently in charge at Old Trafford, but he will leave the dugout and take up a consultancy role behind-the-scenes after the campaign reaches its climax.

According to ESPN, there is a possibility that Manchester United will make a summer move for Kane and the appointment of Pochettino would strengthen their chances of clinching his signature.

The report suggests Kane would cost upwards of £100million and command wages in the region of £350,000-per-week.

The Telegraph’s chief football correspondent Jason Burt has claimed Kane could be the goalscoring machine Manchester United have been searching for since Robin van Persie left Old Trafford.

Kane was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City last summer, but he was forced to remain on Tottenham’s books after chairman Daniel Levy was unwilling to lower his asking price for the frontman.

Meanwhile, current Paris Saint-Germain chief Pochettino is understood to be among the contenders to take charge of the Red Devils at the end of Rangnick’s short-term reign, but the club will have to convince the Argentinian that he is their number one choice.

Jones understands that Kane would be open to swapping the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for Old Trafford if Pochettino is installed as Manchester United’s new boss.

The transfer insider believes the relationship the pair built in north London is still strong and Kane would like to work under Pochettino again.
