Hull KR need to go back to basics to kickstart season against Castleford

After a hectic few weeks on and off the field for , all eyes turn to Sunday's crucial Super League clash against Lee Radford's Castleford Tigers side.

Over the last 14 days, Rovers lost two games, including a Challenge Cup semi-final, announced a new head coach in Willie Peters, sent six players out on loan, lost Jordan Abdull for the remainder of the season and tied down two of their key overseas stars in Kane Linnett and Matt Parcell.

The positive news has been flowing in off the field, barring the recent spell of injuries. Still, Rovers haven't been clicking on the field during their last two outings and they have the perfect chance to rejuvenate their 2022 campaign with a win over Castleford, a side they have beaten twice already this year.

The Robins have looked like a shadow of the team that won six on the bounce and was dubbed title contenders by pundits last month. This is down mainly to Rovers being guilty of sloppy errors, playing at a languid pace and some questionable defensive efforts against Leeds Rhinos and Huddersfield Giants.

The off-the-cuff attacking flair has been non-existent, with Rovers only crossing the whitewash once in 160 minutes of rugby league.

All teams go through a rough patch during a campaign, but Tony Smith's men must ensure they put the past fortnight to bed and get back to winning ways this weekend, as the Super League table can turn within weeks after a few defeats against the teams around you.
