Hull FC head coach Brett Hodgson explains how new training hub fits into long-term plan

Brett Hodgson dived head first into life at Hull FC. He wasted no time in getting to work, but it was never about the short-term fix.

It's the long-game, and the Australian head coach is front row and centre. He's bought into everything; the first team squad, the academy, the scholarship, the grassroots, the professionalism, the whole nine yards. It's about long-term results, and the plans put in place to get them.

None of those plans are bigger than Hull FC's new training hub and Centre of Excellence situated at the University of Hull, a world-class facility ready for all of the Black and Whites' teams to use after the Rugby League World Cup. It's a massive leap forward for the whole club, who will all be under one roof for the first time ever. For Hodgson, and for those who buy into what Hull FC are trying to do right now, this move is about as big as it gets.

Hull FC announce permanent training ground move to the University of Hull

"This is for the entire club and that's part of the conversations and part of the importance about coming down here to the university of Hull," Hodgson told Hull Live. "It's one base for the entire structure of our playing, our education and our future.

"It's really important and I love the fact that we're all going to be under the same roof. It's a big roof as the university is quite large, obviously, but you get different environments and different levels of training. The university has so many elite facilities which can only benefit us.

"How much of that we use, time will tell, but we'll be using some of those elite gym facilities, and we can test our players on the campus. That's all part of the arrangement. There's so much that we can build on but that will take time and take a little
