New Hull FC signing Tex Hoy on Newcastle, his new deal and why he's making the move

After weeks of talks and negotiations, Hull FC have got their man. Putting pen to paper on a two-year deal, Tex Hoy will be a Black and White come the start of pre-season.

The club might have wanted him right here, right now, but that's rugby league, and it takes nothing away from the excitement of what's to come. Hoy, at just 22-years-old, is exactly the direction the club want to take. He's young, ambitious, and driven on his goals.

It's a big move for the young gun, who's played 23 NRL games for home-town club Newcastle Knights, but bringing with it a new culture, new experiences, and a new way of life, it's one he feels he is ready to make.

"It was a big decision for me," Hoy admitted when talking to the English media for the first time. "I'm just letting it soak in at the moment. I'm sure by the end of the season here it will hit me a little bit more but I'm excited for a new chapter.

"I'm only 22 and for me to come to Super League was based on me getting out of my comfort zone. I've been living in Newcastle which is just a small city-town really over in Australia.

"I've lived here my whole life. This is where I was born. This is where I grew up. I know the ins and outs of it and I just saw this for both human and footy growth as a challenge and a good option for me. I got told Hull FC were interested in me. I looked further into it and now we're here."

Hoy is a big coup for Hull FC, and he fits the bill. Known to be reducing the average age of the squad, the Australian playmaker ticks all the boxes.
