Hull City plotting to fend off Premier League interest in Keane Lewis-Potter

Shota Arveladze believes it's imperative Hull City do their best to keep Keane Lewis-Potter at the club beyond the summer, if they're to have any hope of turning themselves into a squad capable of challenging at the opposite end of the Championship next season.

Lewis-Potter will be the subject of stern interest this summer, as Premier League clubs circle above the 21-year-old starlet after an impressive first full campaign in the second-tier. The Hull-born ace bagged his second brace of the season on Saturday, scoring two fine goals in the 3-0 win over Reading at the MKM Stadium, to take his tally for the season to 12.

Brentford pushed hard last summer and again in January, but the Allam family and then Acun Ilicali rejected the temptation to cash in on the Hull-born sensational, and since those bids, his stock has risen further with a flurry of impressive displays and a first England Under-21 cap last month.

City owner Acun Ilicali is understood to be feeling a little more positive about the club's chances of keeping Lewis-Potter this summer and is preparing to offer him a significantly improved deal in a bid to tie him down to a longer-term deal at the MKM Stadium, though it remains to be seen if that's something the youngster - who feels he's ready for the step-up to the top flight - would sign.

Reports in the media on Monday suggesting West Ham United are preparing to launch a bid for Lewis-Potter, are understood to be wide of the mark, Hull Live has been told, with a move to either Tottenham or West Ham at this stage, extremely unlikely.
